In Nanjing, Saina Nehwal beat Aliye Demirbag in the straight games
Nanjing (China): World number-10 women’s badminton player Saina Nehwal has entered the second round of the women’s singles on Tuesday, winning her campaign in the world badminton championship. In the first round, Saina beat Turkey’s Aliye Demirbag.
Saina beat World Number-72 Demirbag in straight games by defeating 21-17, 21-8 in 39 minutes to reach the next round, where she faces World No. 4 Ratchanok Intanon.
India got disappointed in the men’s doubles category. Tarun Kona-Saurabh Sharma and M.R. Arjun-Ramachandran Shlok had to face defeat in their respective matches.
Hong Kong’s OR Chin-Chung and Tang Chun Man beat the pairs of Tarun and Saurabh by 20-22, 21-18, 17-21.
The pair of Malaysia’s ONG Yew Sin and TEO Ee Yi beat Arjun and Shlok in straight games by 21-14, 21-15 in 29 minutes.
In addition, losing the mixed pair of Rohan Kapoor and Kuhoo Garg in the mixed doubles category. In the second round, he was beaten by England’s Chris Adcock and Gabrielle Adcock, 21-12, 21-12 in straight games.
